CBA Retail Membership:

Qualifications and Applications

During the last six decades, thousands of Christian stores have made the decision to join CBA. We hope you'll join us too. We're stronger together.
CBA offers three different categories of Retail membership to fit your needs:

Christian Retailer Membership

For retail establishments that:

  1. Independently, ministry or corporately owned, and either currently open for business or to open not more than 90 days after application.
    (If you are greater than 90 days from opening your store please use our Prospective Retailer membership application below.)
  2. Have an inventory not less than 75% of which at any given time consists of Bibles, Christian books, Christian music, church supplies, and related Christian merchandise.
  3. Operate from a location appropriate for the business model, hold necessary business licenses and comply with zoning regulation.
  4. Advertise to and serve the general public in a manner consistent with retail operations.
  5. Have the usual and customary overhead of retail business operations.
  6. Business expenses are substantially paid from proceeds acquired through retail operations.

Any retail establishment, under any ownership, or in any retail setting, that meets the criteria above is eligible for CBA Christian Retailer membership. Retailers that do not fully meet the criteria for this membership may still qualify for one of the memberships below:

Affiliate Retailer Membership*

  2. Have an inventory containing some Christian/inspirational product* or have an interest in doing so. (*Products may consist of Bibles, Christian books, Christian music, church supplies, and related Christian/inspirational merchandise.)
  3. Operate from a location appropriate for the business model, hold necessary business licenses and comply with zoning regulation.
  4. Advertise to and serve the general public in a manner consistent with retail operations.
  5. Have the usual and customary overhead of retail business operations.
  6. Business expenses are substantially paid from proceeds acquired through retail operations.

      * Stores that qualify for CBA Christian Retailer Membership do not
          qualify for the Affiliate Retailer membership category.


Prospective Retailer Membership

  1. This membership is available to any individual or group of partners who do not yet have a store and are either evaluating opening a future Christian Retail Establishment or are currently in the process of opening a Christian Retail Establishment. (For the definition of a Christian Retail Establishment please review the qualifications to become a Christian Retailer member of CBA above.)
  2. This membership may be renewed if a member is still actively pursuing opening a business but will be limited to a total of two years.
